AUSTIN Engineering is powering ahead in the pursuit of safer tyre maintenance equipment with plans to upgrade its range of tyre handlers in 2008.
Austin’s JEC tyre handler is a proven winner for the company and came with their acquisition of Perth’s John’s Engineering & Cranes (JEC) in 2004.
The company’s range of JEC tyre handlers has been designed to handle situations from one tonne to 10 tonnes and have become a favourite with mining managers around the world.
Austin Perth’s general manager Paul Clarke said with the growing demands to ensure safety features were built into tyre handlers, the company would be embellishing those that it manufacturers.
“We’re safety-driven when it comes to the design and manufacture of our JEC tyre handlers,” he said.
“Our plans in 2008 are to spruce-up our current range to improve manufacturing costs and ensure our designs incorporate all the necessary safety features.
“Our current range of tyre handlers are more suited to front-end loader applications; however, we are planning to develop the larger end of our range to suit alternate prime mover applications from 14 to16 tonne tyre handlers.
“With mining equipment getting larger and larger there is an increasing demand for tyre handlers to manage heavier tyre and rim combinations. We will also be looking at the design aesthetics of our current tyre handler range and believe we can bring a more modern, smarter-looking, more affordable tyre handler onto the world market.”
Austin’s JEC tyre handlers have a capacity range of 1,000 kg to 10,000 kg and are available in a telescopic or parallelogram design to suit a variety of machines.
The design incorporates a 30 degree body/120 degree pad rotation, or 360/360 degree option.
