Austin Engineering win another Chilean mining contract

Austin Engineering have won another major mining maintenance contract in Chile.

This contract is the third in as many months, following the award of a three year repair and maintenance contract at Codelco's Ministro Hales mine, and another with Codelco for a five year provision of heavy equipment lifting and support services at its Gabriela Mistral (Gaby) mine.

This new four year contract will see Austin, through its Chilean subsidiary, provide the maintenance and repair of dump truck bodies, buckets, and ancillary equipment at the Gabriela mine.

The base value of the contract is worth approximately $5 million in the first three years, and $2.3 million in the fourth, however the eventual value could be higher depending upon the extent of repairs and maintenance.

Austin managing director Michael Buckland said "this new contract follows the two contracts fro the Calama region (of Chile) announced in August 2013 and brings the total base value of these contract awards to more than USD $30 million".

"The equipment will be repaired and maintained onsite with the larger repairs being transported to our Calama workshop facility," he added.

Buckland went on to state that the company expects to announce further contracts in the next three months.
