Ausenco has been awarded a three year contract to manage a portfolio of projects at Newcrest's Lihir mine.
According to Ausenco it will provide delivery services to support ongoing capital projects at the Papua New Guinean gold mine, with the services delivered under an EPCM contract working with the Newcrest team.
Zimi Meka, Auensoc's CEO said "this contract involves [us] delivering services across a number of phases of the project".
The Lihir mine hit stumbling blocks late last year after it was forced to reduce production by around a quarter due to mechanical issues at its plant, only a month after it was forced to production when issues came to a head with local indigenous groups.
The Lihir deposit is one of the world's largest known gold deposits, and has produced more than nine million ounces of gold since operations began in 1997.
