The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) has welcomed the appointment of Richard Sellers to the role of Director General of the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP).
AMEC CEO Simon Bennison said that Sellers is an excellent choice for the role and will serve Western Australia well.
“Sellers’ experience as the Executive Director of Minerals and Energy in the Northern Territory Government will be very positive for WA,” Bennison said.
“As the most senior Government Officer in Minerals and Energy in the Territory, Sellers has overseen strong growth in the sector and developed very useful ties to the industry internationally, particularly in Asia.
“AMEC commends the Acting Director General, Tim Griffin for his excellent stewardship since the creation of the new Department and looks forward to working with Sellers in his new role after 2 June.”
