South Australia’s growing influence on critical minerals, technology and project development is set to form the perfect backdrop for AIMEX 2027.
As the mining industry enters a new era of critical minerals, automation and digital innovation, Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) 2027 is heading to Adelaide to bring the sector’s biggest conversations to one of the country’s fastest-growing mining jurisdictions.
AIMEX will take over the Adelaide Showground from September 28–30 next year, bringing together mining operators, suppliers, investors and technology providers from across Australia, the Asia-Pacific and the world.
For AIMEX organisers, Adelaide was once again a natural choice for the event’s latest chapter.
“South Australia is emerging as a major force in Australian mining, particularly through its critical minerals sector, strong pipeline of resource projects and focus on innovation,” Prime Creative Media relationships manager Rebecca Todesco said.
The exhibition’s return comes as SA’s influence on the national mining industry continues to expand.
As demand for critical minerals accelerates and investment continues to flow into new mining projects and technologies, the state is becoming a focal point for many of the industry’s biggest opportunities. The shift is helping position Adelaide as a meeting hub for the companies, technologies and investment shaping the next phase of Australia’s mining sector.
The state is home to some of the nation’s largest copper and critical minerals developments, including BHP’s Olympic Dam operation and Hillgrove Resources’ Kanmantoo copper mine, with growing investment helping support the materials needed for renewable energy systems, electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced manufacturing. That combination of resource potential, innovation and industry expertise makes SA the ideal location for the event’s return.
With the global energy transition also gaining momentum, mining companies are increasingly looking for new ways to improve productivity, strengthen operational performance and unlock greater value from their operations.
“AIMEX is where the industry comes together to share ideas, challenge thinking and explore the technologies reshaping modern mining,” Todesco said.
The exhibition will shine a spotlight on artificial intelligence (AI), automation, digital mine systems and advanced processing solutions.
The Renewable, EV and Tech Showcase will display software and emerging digital technologies, while the Mining Pavilion will bring together major mining companies and critical minerals projects.

The conversations taking place across the exhibition floor will continue throughout AIMEX’s conference program, including the Stewardship Summit and Renewable, EV and Tech Showcase, bringing together industry leaders to examine the opportunities and challenges shaping mining today.
The 2025 exhibition drew 5389 delegates, 236 exhibiting companies and 80 speakers to Adelaide, with attendees representing more than 30 countries.
The strong turnout highlights AIMEX’s importance for the people driving mining projects, supplying technology and making investment decisions.

Adelaide secured AIMEX 2027 following a competitive bid process, reflecting the growing prominence of SA’s resources sector on both a national and international stage.
