29Metals awards key Golden Grove contract

29Metals is one step closer to realising the expansion of its Golden Grove copper-zinc mine in Western Australia thanks to a key construction contract with MLG.

MLG has been awarded a scope of works for a civil construction project to support the first stage of the construction of a tails storage facility at the project.

MLG founder and managing director Murray Leahy welcomed the contract, which has been valued at $8 million.

“We very much look forward to supporting 29Metals with this project and appreciate the importance of a new client relationship,” Leahy said.

“This recognises the expertise MLG has developed in civil and tails dam construction space that has contributed to the further enhancement of our integrated operating model, we look forward to a successful outcome for both MLG and 29Metals in the delivery of this project.”

The works will take place over a six month period, beginning in late June 2024 where mobilisation to site is set to commence.

Golden Grove was a highlight for 29Metals in to March quarter thanks to its Xantho Extended orebody.

The miner’s overall copper and zinc production stood at 5.8 thousand tonnes (kt) and 4.7kt respectively for the quarter.
